Confined Space Training

RIIWHS202D – Enter and Work in a Confined Space

Course duration: One (1) day (eight (8) hours).

Our nationally accredited one (1) day Basic Confined Space Entry Training courses are designed to teach participants how to identify confined space hazards, perform confined space risk assessments and work in confined spaces. This is a very basic one day training course with learning pathways to the two (2) day training course.

Participants will learn to complete hazard identifications, risk assessments and entry permits for Confined Space Operations. They will also learn to operate various confined space safety equipment.

NOTE: Personnel who may be required to operate Gas Detectors must complete the 2 day training course.

MSAPMOHS217A – Gas test atmospheres.

Course duration: Four (4) hours.

Our Gas Testing training course is designed for personnel who may need to undertake monitoring of potentially hazardous atmospheres in the workplace. These areas that may need to be atmospherically tested may include: Confined Spaces, work around hazardous material storage areas, restricted spaces or areas which contain dangerous goods.

This course is taught by highly experienced emergency services instructors who have a strong background in HAZMAT response. This training course will teach personnel when gas testing is required, how to conduct gas testing and how to determine if the atmosphere is safe to work in.

Many practical exercises are included as part of the training. This training course involves ‘hands on’ experience operating gas testing equipment.

PUAFIR207B – Operate breathing apparatus open circuit
PUAFIR215 Prevent injury (pre-requisite for PUAFIR207B)

Course duration: Two (2) days (sixteen (16) hours).

Our nationally accredited Breathing Apparatus Training courses are designed for employees who may be required to utilise Breathing Apparatus Equipment. Participants will wear Breathing Apparatus and be taught operating procedures.

Participants who attend this course will observe a high emphasis on safety and emergency procedures. This course will be tailored to your specific type of Breathing Apparatus. Equipment such as Airline Breathing Apparatus or Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA) will be taught based upon your specific requirements.

This course is only taught by experienced emergency services personnel. Regular breathing Apparatus Refresher Training Courses are recommended under Australian Standard AS 1715 – 2009.

  • Relevant Australian Standards, Regulations explained;
  • The Human respiratory system;
  • Types of Breathing Apparatus;
  • Communication Procedures;
  • Risk Assessments and hierarchy of Hazard Control;

  • Calculating working duration & Emergency escape times;
  • Using Breathing Apparatus Control Tally Boards;
  • Breathing Apparatus Safety & Entrapment Procedures;
  • After Use Cleaning, Maintenance & Testing Procedures;
  • Search & Rescue.

Practical Exercises will be tailored to your specific workplace and may include a selection of the following: Firefighting, Search & Rescue, Chemical Splash Suits, Fully Encapsulated Suits, Confined Space Rescue & Decontamination etc.

Worker in confined space

Duration:  Two (2) – Four (4) days depending upon training options chosen and site requirements (this depends on whether personnel have completed confined space entry training and/or breathing apparatus training previously).

Course Outline:

Our nationally accredited Confined Space Rescue Course is designed for personnel who may be required to perform rescue of injured personnel from confined spaces. This training course is taught by experienced emergency services instructors who will perform rescue scenarios that are relevant to our clients site. This training course is very ‘hands on’ with 75% of the time being devoted to rescue scenarios of personnel from confined spaces.

Various types of equipment can be covered depending on the complexity of the types of rescue methods applicable at the site. Training and course subjects will be completely tailored to the requirements of the worksite. Capabilities/course subjects are listed below.

Following the training course, all competent personnel shall be capable of responding and controlling various confined space emergencies.

This Course has a very large practical component 75% Practical and 25% Theory.
