Working Safely at Heights Training

RIIWHS204D – Work safely at Heights

Duration: One (1) day (eight (8) hours)

Our nationally accredited Safe Working at Height training courses are designed for persons who are required to work at height. Participants will develop skills to select height safety equipment and apply it to specific tasks.

Training covers how to work in accordance with Height Safety Regulations, Australian Standards and relevant codes of practice. Participants will have an understanding of Risk Assessment procedures and permits to work at height.

Participants will also undergo practical instruction in the correct use of height safety equipment. This Nationally accredited course can be tailored to suit your company’s specific requirements.

Practical scenarios will be completed which will be based upon the individual needs of your workplace e.g. Restraint Systems, Fall-Arrest Systems, ‘Restraint Technique’ Roof Systems of work, Work on towers etc.

The course can be delivered at our purpose build training facility or onsite at your premises providing you have an area set aside for the practical scenarios.

Worker at height
Course Subjects:

  • Case Studies from industry;
  • Risk Assessment & Hierarchy of Hazard Control;

  • Fall Arrest Devices & Safety Equipment;

  • Safe Ladder Techniques;
  • Equipment Inspection & Maintenance requirements;
  • Setting up a fall restraint system;
  • Emergency Procedures including Height Rescue Procedures;
  • Suspension Trauma;
  • Developing Site Procedures & Safe Work Methods;

VERTICAL RESCUE TRAINING
Nationally Recognised Course Codes:

  • PUAEME001B – Provide Emergency Care;
  • PUAFIR215 – Prevent Injury;
  • PUASAR022A – Participate in a Rescue Operation;
  • PUASAR032A – Undertake Vertical Rescue.

Duration:  Normally four (4) days depending upon training options chosen and site requirements (this can be five (5) days if certain rescue methods are required to be taught).

Course Outline:

Our nationally accredited Vertical Rescue Course is designed for personnel who may be required to perform rope rescues to rescue injured personnel.

This training course is taught by experienced emergency services instructors who will perform rescue scenarios that are relevant to our clients site. This training course is very ‘hands on’ with 75% of the time being ‘on ropes’ and performing rescue scenarios.

Various types of equipment can be covered depending on the complexity of the types of rescue methods applicable at the site. Training and course subjects will be completely tailored to the requirements of the worksite. Capabilities/course subjects are listed below.

Following the training course, all competent personnel shall be capable of responding and controlling various on-site rope rescue emergencies.

Confined space
Course Subjects: (Will include a selection of the following)

  • AS4488 and AS1891.4 – Falls From Height Regulations;
  • Software Theory: Harness, Ropes etc;
  • Hardware Theory;
  • Life Rescue Knots & Hitches;
  • Anchor Points / Anchor Systems;
  • Suspension Trauma;
  • Rappelling Skills;
  • Line Ascension Skills;

  • Rescue Team Ethos & Ideals;
  • Lowering & Raising Systems;
  • Stretcher Escorting & Patient handling;
  • Pick Off’ Rescues;
  • Safety Officer & Team Leader Roles & Responsibilities;
  • Belay Systems & Climbing Skills (Optional);
  • Decline Traverse’s (Optional);
  • Tyrolean Traverse’s (Optional).

This Course has a very large practical component 75% practical and 25% theory.

The course can be delivered at our purpose build training facility or onsite at your premises providing you have an area set aside for the practical scenarios.

TOWER RESCUE TRAINING

(For personnel whom work on Towers or whom are required to perform a ONE on ONE Rappel Rescue)

Course Outline:

Our nationally accredited Tower Rescue Training Course is designed for personnel whom may be required to perform (one (1) on one (1) – top down rappel rescues) from towers, cranes, bridges or similar platforms. This training course develops the skills of personnel to complete a complex rope rescue on their own using rope rescue equipment and tower climbing equipment.

This Training course has a very large emphasis on safety. This training provides personnel with training to combat various types of onsite emergencies. Various rope rescue equipment can be covered depending on the complexity of equipment at the site (and what equipment the client is currently using).

Subjects covered will depend upon the types of capabilities requested. Capabilities and course subjects will be completely tailored to the requirements of the worksite. Capabilities/course subjects are listed below. Following the training course, the emergency response team shall be capable of responding and controlling various rope rescue on-site emergencies.
